A Hearts Journey
I've learned throughout my life how our hearts are intertwined with daily occurrences: remembering my first doll, the flower I grew from a seed, being so excited when my brother taught me to ride my bike, (My heart seemed to jump out of my chest!) and finally, after much practice being able to play my first song without a mistake on the piano! Remembering my excitement when Mom brought home our first dog, a german shepherd puppy.
Most of us have so many wonderful memories that warms our hearts as children.
As Teenagers, we have our first crush, our first date and possibly a Kiss, and getting our drivers license. Then
we become adults, venture out on our own, go off to school, get our first place. make all of our decisions. Some get married, become parents and experience the gamut of emotions that come with children and raising a family.
So many wonderful occasions and memories.
However, just as there are wonderful memories that bring us joy, we all experience things that bring us heartache, pain, loss and sadness as well. This is where the Title "A Hearts Journey" came to be. At first I was going to title the painting "Scars of the Heart" But, as I painted, I realized the paint could cover up areas I have dealt with and now want to forget. Witnessing Heartache, seeing sadness, encountering loss, and many other feelings that as Adults we learn,
I could use a happy color and influence the directions and thoughts of the vibrations! Those layers of pain are still there, but they are part of something larger that is beautiful and whole. As I continued to paint, I discovered and contemplated the journey of my life, my many memories, struggles, losing a son, heartache and defeat. But then also intertwined are those many happy times, successes and accomplishments.
I try to always start my paintings with good thoughts in mind. I ask that this painting be able to connect with the person who it is meant for, that it will bring feelings of joy, and even healing.
This is a very large triptych! it belongs on a special wall. My positive thoughts and vibrations are engrained throughout all of the twists and turns. I have written little hidden uplifting messages under the many layers of paint which have been sanded, scratched, and glazed many times over. When you look closely, you can see and feel the history and journey of this piece akin to your own heart. ultimately, the changing of colors, new directions, varied textures and terrain lend to satisfaction of a piece finally complete, and a life well lived. To the collector who will acquire this piece, my desire is that it brings you much joy and many treasured thoughts.
